Sleepy.
Oh, the Gibb. He totally fell asleep today watching The Incredibles. He looked so sweet. I had to snap some pics. I'm having a really hard time reading what's wrong with the poor little guy. He's not sleeping very well. He has these yucky cough attacks that are brought on by cold air, running around, and crying. I think he's missing school and hanging out with his cousins. He'll be back to good super-soon, and our lives can get back to normal. Oh, and he calls the puppy and binkie, puppabink. They're a duo. He has to have them both when he sleeps. We've been trying to let him know that when he turns 3 the binkie fairy will be coming to take his bink and give it to a baby who needs it. He's not buying it.

Heather, have you considered asthma? I know it sounds scary and awful, but his symptoms sound just like my Willem's when he gets a "flare-up." The worst thing about asthma is that it often goes undiagnosed because the symptoms can be very similar to colds that lead to bronchitis. That's where we were stuck for years until I finally took him to a ped. that really knows asthma! Now that he's been properly diagnosed, everything is under control and so much better. I hope I haven't completely freaked you out, but I just wanted to share if it could mean possibly helping.

Kristi!
I think we'll be looking into that! The air in Utah is horrible right now and I'm wondering if that's what has caused it to get so bad...we'll have to take him to the the doc and see what they say!
Thank you for the input!
same here!!!!! Tanner finally got diagnosed at 6 and a half years old!!!!!!. His asthma is viral induced rather than exercise induced or allergy induced, so we kept treating it as a URI or bronchitis. The cough would last forever and all - night - long....Now we have a breathing machine and an inhaler and we can get it under control in one day....so much better.....
so remember the binkie - we finally snipped a little off the end left it on the floor when we went away and when we got home and he found it we blamed it on the dog! He couldn't be mad at us - we didn't do it. He wanted daddy to fix it - we told we couldn't it was to broken. I took about a day and he was OK. I think it worked because we didn't "take it away from him" he still had it but could not use it. Good luck!!
Hey...I'm a poppy ink fan who also happens to be a pediatrician...when I read your description of what is going on with Gibb, asthma also came to my mind. You might want to see your dr. {by the way, the flu shot protects against respiratory influenza not the stomach flu =)}
I'm so glad I went out on a limb and brought up the whole asthma thing. I was feeling pretty bad because it is such a serious thing, but now that a few other people have chimed in, including a ped., thinking the same thing, I'm glad I did say something. Hope you're able to get Gibb seen ASAP so that if it is asthma, you and your hubby can start treating it and all the misery will end. And there's so many treatments out there for asthma in children that you and your dr. should be able to find one that is a good fit for the particular causes for the flare-ups and the symptoms and Gibb. I'll be anxiously awaiting the outcome of your dr.'s visit.
Take care!

poor gibb. i hope he feels better. good luck with weening him off the pacifier. i'm not looking forward to that with my DD.
Gibb is adorable. It is torture when they are so sick. Just do the best you can with everything else and concentrate on him...it is all that really matters anyway. Hope you both get some relief soon.
awww he's so cute! Yup, I tried to do that at Christmas time with my son's binkie, saying Santa is going to take it with him (he's 2), yeah didn't work so much. So, we're holding off until summer.
